Welcome to my Employment Search Web Site

I would like to take the
opportunity to tell you a
little bit about me and my
professional experiences.

My Name is Henry Silentman. I live in the Four Corners area of the United States where Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah share a common border. I grew up in Gallup, New Mexico and I have lived and worked in each of the four corners' states at one point or the other. I am a full-blooded Navajo Indian. For you who might understand clan lineage; I am born of the Nakai Diné, and born for the Hooghan Láni. My mother's paternal clan is Toh Dachini and my father's paternal clan is Glaa Chini. I don't speak the Navajo language fluently but I do speak French rather well. I pick up a few words, every now and then, in Navajo though.

I am currently employed with the Home Depot in Farmington, New Mexico. the Home Depot is an international retailer of home improvement that targets the do-it-yourself market. I moved to Farmington in March of 2003. I am pleased with Home Depot and pleased to be in Farmington. Home Depot has a great benefits program and a nice training program. I enjoy the constant contact and interaction with Home Depot customers. Since my employment, I have earned ten customer service merit badges and I was selected "Cashier of the Month" for September 2004 and March 2005.

Being employed at the Home Depot allowed me to participate in volunteer activities. I am most greatful to be able to volunteer. I had not volunteered on an extensive level since I was in college. I volunteered for the American Red Cross and the Better Business Bureau here in Farmington. At the American Red Cross, I helped with the various office duties for the organization. At the Better Business Bureau, I pretty much did the same thing, but because I was the sole volunteer, I was busiest at the BBB.

As I had mentioned, I had recently been employed as a small business counselor. I enjoyed providing this service to the members of my home community. The community is very diverse with Native and Hispanic communities, as well as, the large Anglo community. I had the opportunity to develop my counseling and training skills. And, I enjoyed my opportunities for group instruction. I developed and delivered two business technical assistance workshops, a Pen and Pencil Bookkeeping workshop and a Managing your Credit workshop. It was a great opportunity.

Before that, I was employed in the Slovak Republic as an English teacher at the Berlitz language school in Kosice, in Eastern Slovakia. I very much enjoyed teaching English, more than I thought I would have when I started. I especially liked teaching groups. They are more challenging to teach than individual students. The Business English instruction was the most exciting for me because it allowed me to expand and intimate various business concepts and scenarios for the diverse student base. It was most rewarding to teach a population that was, until recently, communist. I would not hesitate to experience the challenges I faced in Slovakia again.

I have a lot of personal interests. I enjoy working at the computer. I like to try out different HTML and Java scripts. I always have a few websites and projects that I am working on. I have been blogging for over a year. It is challenging to try to keep topics fresh. I would like to read books more often than I actually do. Thank you for taking the time to stop by and I hope you enjoy the rest of this site.

SOBRO.org

I was told a story about one of the founders of his organization. The founder was a stock broker and he decided to help the local folk develop enterprises. He founded a partnership of bankers to finance economic development in the South Bronx.

Fasttrac.org

I worked for Fasttrac for a couple of months when the program was based in Denver. I was fascinated with the program. Now the program is run by the Kaufman Foundation and is is much bigger than what I remember. This is a great program for people who would like to learn how to start their business.
